Our programs reflect the characteristics of traditional Montessori education.

Environment

The name originally given to this setting was “Casa Bambini”, House of the Children. A wide variety of child-sized, developmentally appropriate, self-correcting materials allows your child to teach herself about language, mathematics and the richness of human culture: art, music, history, geography, botany, zoology and the physical sciences. With the freedom to choose among this broad range of manipulative materials, the child grows in competence and confidence.

Multi-Age Grouping

A three year age span (3-6 years, 6-9 and 9-12) ensures that children at various stages of development can learn from and with each other.

Individualized Instruction

At the center of the method is your YOUR CHILD. Individual interests motivate choice of material. Each will be assisted by the trained adult who will show how the material works and the child is then free to use it until the desired skill or concept has been mastered. She may then choose to “teach” that material to another child or to move to a new level of interest.

Freedom

Freedom is a necessary component for growth. Choosing one’s own work and pace provides opportunities for success. Children build cognitive, emotional, social and physical skills within a set of reasonable “ground rules”. The result is individuals who have abilities to be autonomous and self-directed as well as collaborative and cooperative.
